Well, that's certainly consistent with what I just posted. We do - I know I certainly do - feel tremendous compassion for the people of Afghanistan. And tremendous admiration, too. The people of Afghanistan are brave, and have suffered terribly during many years of war. We were proud to assist them against Soviet aggression when Reagan was President. I am still proud that we assisted them against Soviet aggression. Had the shoe been on the other foot, if it was the Afghanis attacking the Soviets, I would not have supported that.

I don't think anyone really thinks that if the Soviets had won in Afghanistan, the Afghanis would have let them remain in peace.
