Great minds work the same. I was just discussing with my wife when we had dinner earlier that the terrorists would probably target on bombing a shopping mall, bombing a prestigious university (Harvard, Stanford etc), or polluting drinking water, etc. That will probably cause even more fear among the average Joes.

How can our government protect us from this type of craziness?

Mm

They cannot stop the evil only work to minimize it.

We now know what other countries have been experiencing for years.

Perhaps this will be the catalyst for the action that has been sorely need for decades.

It's gut-wrenching to think of the price that has been paid to spur our leaders into a concerted effort against those that threaten our safety.

They live in terror and so will we, unless we figure out how to combat this evil

I think one way to eradicate this evil is to wipe out from its root the financial support system of this evil.

I'm a believer in capitalism and I hate handouts, but this humanitarian effort will be a critical component of the post-military effort needed to resolve the root causes of the problem (ignorance, lack of economic opportunity, and desperation) rather than just the symptoms (terrorism, fanaticism, and intolerance).

Well said.

I think the symptoms have been there for a long time (and ignored), but hopefully will now be addressed.
I hope that the international policy is also aligned accordingly.
