I agree and disagree. I like to pull the book out note where and just how wrong they were on some things. Clearly both works provided advice that if followed to the letter would have worked against an investor. Yet I find it of interest that even today, some of their general guidelines still are applicable.

The discussion of the Deficit and Stockmans response is particularly interesting from a recent history point of view. Stockman suggested an approach to resolving the problem, looked on with sceptiscm, which in fact appeared to eventually result in the recent budget surpluses seen.

I looked over the soveriegn individual probably 18 months ago, and found it of interest from a megatrend perspective, but don't recall anything of immediate tactical use. Probably should take another look.

All in all, I'd say the present some good info from a strategic perspective, but their timing can be very poor.
