To: James L. Their flag-waving choreography of the past few days and the rule-breaking "gentlemen's agreement" was only marginally less repulsive than the actual terrorist attacks. There was a foul smell of miasma that hung over Monday's market action. Not only due to those lost and injured in the attacks, as well as their families and friends, but augmented by the unrelenting greed of the institutions who desired to profit from it. There is an undeniable wrongness to their actions, which I have to classify as the penultimate Pump and Dump. Obviously, their greed exceeds their decency by about a mile and a half and you could drive a ten-ton truck through their conscience without hitting a thing. Of all the inappropriate times to demonstrate their undying love for the dollar, they chose the first available opportunity to establish a new low for decency and honesty. Still echoing in my mind are their words of patriotic encouragement and buy suggestions. A cold quiver of embarrassment and then nausea wound through me as I watched the volume climb on relentless selling. The feigned compassion was gone, replaced by their true colors. Yet another day sad day for Americans as we witnessed our financial movers and shakers in action, doing their best to take advantage of a tragedy and screw the still gullible and unsuspecting American investor. Without a doubt, this was their finest hour.
