down 5% is a relative victory. i think they have a game plan which consisted of giving a pound of flesh to the market gods today. it would have been bad form to finish green today. but keep things orderly. keep the belief in the market going. the thought being that they can get to minus 2 or 3% by the end of the week, stay flat for six weeks, then start the new bull market with the PPT cheerleaders forecasting good results in 2003. the only problem is, everybody knows this is the plan, and what everybody knows about the market must be wrong.
