There's a thing I half recall about Papal infallibility
I'm a bad Catholic I guess, having learned to think for myself, to discern what is of value and to ignore that which is just plain silly :o)

Maurice,

You are incorrect. The Pope isn't the only one who is infallible these days.

OK, seriously, the Pope isn't infallible. You were right in that you half remembered. From the Online Observer:

<<The Pope is only infallible when speaking ex cathedra on matters of faith and morals, with the Council of Bishops. In fact, since the doctrine was formally instated in 1870, it has only been used twice: once, to formalize the teaching of the Immaculate Conception of Mary and the other time, the Assumption.>>

I guess the only thing that is infallible is the Catholic Church, but then only when speaking about the Catholic Church.
