Thread, Mike Magee is having an operation - this was posted on the Inquirer's newsite:

Site Notice
By Mike Magee, 18/09/2001 08:03:40 BST

I HAVE BEEN EXPECTING to be called in for essential surgery since I suffered a heart attack at the beginning of this year, and it now looks as though my name has reached the top of the list.
With some luck, I won't be in hospital for too long and I will soon be able to start writing about our industry again.

During the time I'm crocked, some colleagues will and keep the Web site updated. If you have story ideas, want editorial information, or have comments to make, please contact Paul Hales, Andrew Thomas or Fuad Abazovic.

If you have comments related to the Web site itself, please email our Webmaster.

On a personal level, I'd like to thank all the very many hundreds of individuals, IT companies and our many thousands of readers who have helped to bring the INQUIRER from nothing to a well-read technical site. µ

I wish Mike Magee a very speedy recovery.

When my Dad had an operation, my brother (who is a Cardiologist) said that the risk period is significantly reduced after the first 24 hours, and then again in the second 24 hours. Clear sailing after 48 hours (though rest is needed for a month.) Let's pray for a speedy recovery for Mike. I am looking forward to reading his snappy comments soon.

If Mike sees this post, let me just say that my Dad is doing really great. These types of operations really have a way of making a person a lot better and healthier.

Get better soon. The IT industry needs you - both the humor and the scoop.

Best regards,
Amy J
