I've done some testing...

Windows seems to start normally without the temporary folders in place. New folders get created.

I've tried a few things and I can't get long file names supported by booting to DOS, or leaving Windows for DOS mode. Opening a DOS window from within Windows does support long file names.

Does anyone know how to get DOS to support long file names?
