Even if they don't get a bailout, or they do but it's inadequate, it just means a few of the weaker links will fail and be taken over by others. Prices may go up, but there will be enough consumers willing to pay a bit more. There is surely an intersection point on the supply/demand curve for this industry. I agree with Sam C.'s observation that (most) people will return to flying.

And after all, the chances of another successful hijacking are slim now. Passengers will, like they did over Pennsylvania, fight for their lives against any hijacking attempt, now that they know it won't be just a detour to Cuba.

I picked up some ALK at 21 today as a long-term hold. It's a good company with good management and loyal consumers. It'll survive and thrive.
