DEAR MEMBERS OF THE CLOWN FREE ZONE, ASK MICHAEL BURKE THREAD, AND FELLOW TRAVELLERS: with respect to a group contribution to show our regards for Bill Meehan:

This from JHP via PM:

>>In lieu of flowers, the Meehan family asks that contributions be made to the Cantor Fitzgerald Foundation to
help the families of the World Trade Center disaster. Please contact Phil Ginsberg, Cantor Fitzgerald
Foundation, 101 Park Ave., 45th Floor, New York, NY 10178, or call 800-446-0500.<<

If you want to make it a group contribution, I would be happy to collect the funds and transmit them to the Cantor Fitzgerald Foundation in the name of the group, also listing all individual contributors, if desired, either using real name or alias, as preferred.

Last year the SI community did something like this for Edwarda, in the name of her favorite theater group.

I will post this on the Mike Burke thread, too.

CB, i think it's a pretty standard procedure. i imagine it went something like this: news editor gets call from reporter somewhere in Israel who says: "we've heard that in some areas, the Palestinians are celebrating in the streets". news editor calls the guys responsible for the pictures and says "we have reports of Palestinians celebrating...you got any footage of celebrating Palestinians?" well, of course they have....

and then you see on your TV "CNN LIVE from the Gaza strip".

they probably didn't even ascertain if there REALLY were celebrations. maybe the only people celebrating were all from a known radical Hamas strong-hold? who knows? we'll NEVER know, because it doesn't get reported...we only get to see and hear what we're SUPPOSED to see and hear, just as in the old Soviet Bloc.

spoke with a cantor Widow, it seems they feel like they might be getting the shaft. I heard they are planning to file Bankrutcy. If so(and its a big if) then Attic wasnt being realistic in his promise. I will wait and see to make a judgement.
