The one thing I haven't heard anything about is indicator failure; a major bear has no respect for support, and indicators seem to be almost worthless now, IMHO

Well, this certainly will be a test. If Hays doesn't get it right he'll be a goner as a guru. As for indicators, hit one once (e.g. Arms buy signal), that's a big deal, hit it twice, the signal is stronger, after yesterday hit it a third time and that's "unprecedented strength." When does it become a failure?
