I generally agree, Kevin. I am saddened by some of our government's positions but will not burden myself with guilt for what I cannot control.

We were attacked and should fight back. I think it's important that we understand the grievances against our government, and discuss them, and see if we can register an objection to further unjust actions simply because they are unjust.

But that does not mean we should mute our response to the bombings, unless we really think two wrongs make a right.

And while we review our government's errors, let's not dismiss the errors on the other side. Fundamentalist Islam is terribly abusive to women and others. Accepting that as a 'cultural difference' is a copout.

There is no way to fight without causing pain. And you are right that we will be judged harshly by critics no matter how we choose to proceed.

Morality is not a majority decision. The best we can do is aim high and hope for the best.
