hey Ed,

I agree. My heart sank when I saw that video clip on the news last night. Bush was ill-advised to let that one slip - it was just the kind of crap the Sound Byte Morons (Whoa! great rock group name) have been waiting for since the US's declaration of war on the unwashed unholy.

I thought Bush was smarter than that, or at least I thought his handlers were. He has been careful to cultivate a picture of tolerance towards the US Muslim community, and it seems a shame to blow that capital on an embarrassing and unconvincing display of cowboy swagger.

Let's hope he doesn't blow it again.

Ed,

I believe Bush is speaking to Americans while Powell is speaking to foreigners, and they probably are very aware of the difference.
