JQP, it's true that he has taken the right tone and chosen the right words many times. When he sounds serious and mindful of all the suffering on both sides that this may bring he strikes the right chord. The problem is that at those times such as when he spoke to the construction workers and ad libbed a little, there is a strong undertone of non-statesmanship in his bearing and words. We like to hear it but it's the wrong thing at the wrong time. True statesmanship means you don't give your opponents anything to use against you. He needs to stick to the script and the script needs to be good. Ed
