I believe the American people think the market will be propped up by the powers that be. The SEC and FED worked on that this weekend, and people are even buying to be patriotic. That's not excessive pessimism in my book. As for the tick, it is not anywhere near as bad as yesterday, and the VIX and VXN are off their lows. In fact, the VIX looks like it's diving to the 40 level and below, although it has leveled off the past couple of hours. The only thing that seems to be missing is a catalyst for a reversal, and that will bring volume and short covering.
