"So you (phyxter) say duhhhhh, could the Airforce not protect AF1. Well protect AF1 from what? If one cannot define the threat then only stupid people would suggest ignoring threats and proceeding along normal protocol."

His stupidity in this regard seems unlimited. I am trying to determine whether it is EXTREME STUPIDITY or worse, actual support for the enemy. When stupidity of this magnitude is displayed, I have to wonder.

What a morass! Trying to figure out what you're saying
beyond that you can't stomach the fact that someone might
dare, *dare*, disagree with your chest-pounding is a
challenge, but I'll give it a shot ...

My President, too, and my country's President.
He's the only one we got, and I think he could be doing
better. You obviously don't. Why do you have such a
limited sense of Bush's potential as President?

I notice you grant the point that AF1 could get to Andrews
AFB safely, and that the difficulty is getting to the
White House. Or do you still insist that the AF is inept
in protecting AF1 over US soil? From what? The WH story
is hijacked airliners targeting Washington. But Cheney's
story was also that the AF had orders to shoot down
airliners that threatened Washington. The President
should have gone to Washington. Being sent to Nebraska
was a misjudgment. Sending to our enemies the message
that our President cannot be protected over our own soil
was unfortunate, and a tacitly recognized as such by
the flimsy rationalizations the WH felt obligated to put
out afterwards. Cheney steered Bush wrong. Bush should
have taken charge and gone where his Office requires.
The President was needed in Washington, not in Nebraska.
