The Taliban clerics banned satellite TV early this year, and banned the internet a few months ago. They don't want the people under their control to have access to what is really going on. Makes it too hard for them to get the populace to believe the crap they spew.

Ed, you bring up some good points. I'm for more free trade. I'm even willing to trade with Cuba for example.

I was watching late night TV last night and they always have those commercials where they want you to sponsor a foreign family for 20 bucks a month or something.

They had a third world mother saying that all they needed for their prosperity was a farm animal. A cow was their only objective financially. Although that was quite sad to me, I assume there must be lots of people world wide that must consider that a high level of success.

Personally, letting people choose the way they wish to live, provided it doesn't violate the rights of others, is the highest form of freedom in my mind.
