Do you have any difficulty figuring out in morally absolute terms that the Taliban leadership in Afghanistan and elsewhere is more about thuggery and thought control than religion? These people are morally indistinct from the Khmer Rouge of Cambodia's killing fields and other historical exampes. There are other groups which use terror of the populace as a tool that are perhaps harder to figure out. So be it. If they use terror, whether they be Palestinian or Irish, make every last effort to kill them. K-I-L-L them. No questions asked. If they want to blow up an airplane or incinerate a building full of office workers, then I frankly do not care what their cause is. I do not care why they feel that way. There is no acceptable reason to act that way. I am not willing to send Oprah to Kabul to hold their hands and explore their feelings. (Well, OTOH, maybe we should do that.....) The vast majority of Arabs, or Irish, or Serbians, or the Cambodians of the 1970's, have not been out there causing death and slaughter to thousands or millions of people. I don't really care what their cause is....if they blow up Harrod's, or the World Trade Center, or a Tel Aviv shopping market, then the wrath of the civilized world should come down on them. I hate to say it, but we may soon reach the point where that is all that is understood by these zealots.
