CNBC is a joke. They asked every guest over the days that the market was closed if the sec should ban short selling. And they made it sound as if there was someone behind it,(other than themselves), like "many people feel...". A classic case of the media creating an issue. To the credit of the guests no one of any substance supported the issue.
Artificially suppressing normal market forces is the path to destruction. Without a good short squeeze at some point this market has no chance of stopping the downward momentum.

something that has NEVER been mentioned on CNBC is that the COTs show that the very same brokerage houses that keep telling investors to buy and hold on, and predict absurd target prices for the SnP (see Mother Superior's target of 1550 for the SnP) are themselves MASSIVELY short the stock index futures.

this info is withheld from the public at large on purpose imho. true, it is in the public domain, and anyone could look it up...however, how many small investors even know about it, or know how to interpret the data?
