Patron, I gave up trying regarding gold shares - the consistent mix of WTF responses mixed with deer in the headlight gazes became too much for me.

As to selling generally, they are rightly convinced I'm nuts and can't seem overcome the wall st. cliches like "I'm in it for the long haul" and "I'll average down" and "It'll come back, it always does" and "Oracle is a steal at 16". I use friends and co-workers as market sentiment indicators and this has been very accurate. Based on this, there is still a COMPLETE lack of concern on the part of the average investor.

Lately when they come and talk about how their stocks are getting ass-kicked I just nod a lot and mumble something about "it'll come back, it always does" and they assume I'm taking my prozac regularly now. <g>
