Gottfried,

When I say any immediate action needs to make us feel better about the future. I mean initial action against terrorist and terrorism in general needs to show some measure of success.

I do not mean to imply that we should rush into anything.

Rather I am saying that our initial military actions or whatever kind of action our government takes need to show immediate success when it happens. If our goal is to find and deal with Osama bin Laden then we must be successful in either capturing him or have hard evidence that he is a casualty of this war.

If our larger goal is to infiltrate and break down terrorist cells then we must show early success here as well. The only thing worse for our country than taking no action would be to rush into action and accomplish nothing more than the additional loss of American lives.

We the people of this country do not feel safe to travel or attend any large gathering of individuals for fear that we might be targeted by further terrorist action. This will be a long war. A war I believe we will win through deliberate and measured actions.

In the short term the stock market is not likely to rise without immediate success in our initial efforts to defeat terrorists and terrorism in general. In the short term the market is factoring another 1/2 point rate cut by the FED.

The scope of this discussion as it concerns me is within the frame of what it will take to get the market moving higher again. I know that money is far less important than the value of human lives.
