"I didn't realize what a greedy, rapacious, murderous oppressor I was until just last week. "

Well now you know. How does it feel?

Personally, I'm just a greedy oppressor, and won't graduate until I complete the units on murder and rapaciousness.

How is the US the obstacle?
Well, they claim their greatest fear is absorbing parts of our culture. That's got to be frustrating, because we're everywhere. Too bad our cultural influence seems to blow apart communist dictatorships and closed societies, but that's how freedom seems to work.

>I've been reading posts and comments for a week now from people like yourself who say there is this great yearning for democracy in that area of the world and the United States is evidently the greatest obstacle to seeing it realized.

there is a great yearning for a better life in that area of the world like all regular (non fanatics) people. And the people perceive the policies of our government having a direct opposite result in them having a shitty life (while the rulers and their clan get fatter and fatter).

>What are the people of these nations doing to achieve freedom and democracy for themselves?

Well, you must remember people must eat first. If they tried to do something they may lose their heads. And some sick minds, in their desperation, decide to do something about it. The result, unfortunately, we all saw last week.

It's simple really.
