nadine, i operate under the assumption that people are people in different circumstances. there are arabs that would risk their lives to save you and their are americans that would torture you. painting whole groups of people as one way is more simplistic than astrology's 12 neat buckets to define people. the principle is simple, give people the benefit of the doubt and take away that benefit when THEIR actions dictate it. not the actions of some demonstrator in the street. you identified 5,500 folks, assuming the numbers are accurate, who have serious issues. how many millions of arabs are there? >>Yes, Christians murdered countless people in the crusades. Could it be that the way Europe thinks about the world has fundamentally changed between the 11th century and today?<< did i dream those bombings by christians over in ireland? you see, some christians still do kill - depending on their circumstance. the better the circumstance, the more they can afford to be good. the worse the circumstance, the more dirty they get. i feel safer about the world w/ the US in charge. i wouldn't change it. i'd feel uncomfortable with arabs in charge... or germans... or japanese... that doesn't mean everything the US supports is good. the arabs have a right to feel sleighted by israel and the UN. you would feel the same way. anger and frustration isn't illegal. bombing people is. actively supporting terrorists is. if ALL arabs were as bad as you say, a lot more israelis (and arabs) would be dying. the dangerous folks have to go. much less than 1% of all arabs are a real danger.
