"Internet retailer Amazon.com Inc., which faces persistent questions about its ability to turn a profit before it runs out of cash, wouldn't say how seriously sales were affected in the aftermath of the attacks. Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown analyst Jeetil Patel estimated that Amazon's third-quarter sales might be hurt by 5% because of customer inactivity after the attacks, but he said the company may still be able to hit his forecast for the bottom line. "Should consumer spending further slow down, we feel that risk to our future forecasts clearly exists for Amazon," Mr. Patel wrote in a research report."

Talk about making excuses for poor performance. There were 14 weeks in Q3 and two of them remain. Sales softened for 5 days give or take,, They did not go to zero. They were just a lot slower. How does that possibly reduce the entire 14 week quarter by 5%? Talk about that are really clueless.
