Chapel Hill, North Carolina, forces restaurant to take down its "God Bless America...Woe to Our Enemies" sign.

This fills me with a righteous indignation. I may not be able to sack Osama and Saddam, but I can rebuke those who wish to censor my freedoms. And congratulate those who fight for them. Congratulations to you, Neo. I think it shameful people would attack a heartfelt wish of comfort and safety to all Americans.

God Bless America is one of the few songs that brings a tear to my eyes everytime I hear it. When Jessye Norman sang it for Clinton's second inauguration, I cried like a baby.

In either case, someone's ox is gored. Why should those of faith be deprived of normal expression of their sentiments, because someone doesn't like it? It is merely a form of censorship, because one doesn't like some public expression.......

I seem to recall that you were arguing the other day that people should stifle their sentiments that could be offensive to Muslims. This war has religious overtones. Anything that compartmentalizes us on a religious basis is problematic.

P.S. I shall be leaving shortly for a lunch outing. Back in a few hours.

Why? Because to refrain from government sanctioned displays does not deprive people of anything except government sanctioned religious displays. We do not sanction government pronouncements that there IS NO GOD- nor should we sanction the opposite. imo
