There are a lot of stocks trading below cash: AVCI, CORV, AVNX, but that is normal in a bear market. The TLAB Cowen's presentation was actually quite chilling for the telecom sector for me. It was comfirmed by the JDSU and JNPR presentations. I have been out of the loop for a while as work was taking up most of my time. I am spending time getting back up to speed this week since my Route 66 trip is on hold and it looks worst than I perceived. Even the EMC presentation on storage was not all the up beat and they are anticipating a drawn out slow down as they are focusing on taking share. None of these companies see a quick re-bound.

On the plus side AVNX stablized today while AVCI and CORV continue to break down to new lows. You won't get a recovery in components till you see an improve in systems, so till AVCI, JNPR, CIEN and CORV start to show some traction there is no reason to do much in the sector.

I am not sure what is holding OCCF and GLW up today. They both make fiber, but I don't see any news.

Jim,

Not good, the traditional morning session bounce is almost non-existent. I would still go with my signal though, but it might have to wait till after triple witching is over.

1540 on the COMPX was broken, next stop 1400. I never though I would so that this year. It is just brutal out there.
