Resentment...? Well I do not know about the native CA, and i will do a read up, but I was talking more about the international arena. Of course there is always resentment. The religion the converts abandon, its always going to protest. My take is, if it was so good, why wasn't it able to retain and motivate the people to stay.....

Anyway, this is totally a different subject...

The thingie about spreading culture was more of an anology. Goals. I meant the missionries had a goal, and they achieved that silently. America can set their own goals and go about it in a way that is seen as more effective, less aggressive. It can be quietly effective.

I remember Bush Sr's statement back then - it implied that American public was going to see Saddam dead and buried within the next few days. Well, I believe Bush, being older and out of office, is closer to being buried than Saddam is right now. Statements like these may incite national sentiments momentarily, but they do a lot of political damage in the long run. I believe we should address problems more effectively and quietly rather than blow hot air coz the hot air pisses a lot of people off.....

If we provide a better life to the Afghani's, I doubt if we will need to airdrop weapons. They will find their own way. Like they did in India back when a state of emergency was declared under Mrs Gandhi and India had tried to impose a semi dictatorship. The people, used to freedom, could not accept it at all...no one gave them weapons.

US should, and must make sure no one gives Taalibans weapons....thats all it will take...and it may be harder to do that, but it will be more, much more effective. FOr this, a coalition is needed, a strong intelligence is needed...

Ah well....the kiddos call...
