Once again, it is not a question of whether BREW will be "more" successful than Java.

The question for Qualcomm investors is, will BREW be successful?

I disagree....the success of Java will have a direct impact on the revenue that Qualcomm will see from BREW.

If developers for Java can create all of the applications that can be created using BREW.....what reason would there be for Qualcomm to get 10% of the revenues? If PCS experiences success with its J2ME program it would be pretty easy for Verizon to switch away from BREW (just as it would be easy for PCS to switch towards BREW).

Also....besides any difference in the types of applications that are offered, there is also the difference in business models. Carriers might find out that consumers like being able to choose which applications they want to download rather than having the carrier screen which are available.
