Thomas... how should the CIA and FBI have prepared this nation? How could they be certain of the intelligence that they were receiving, without developing their own independent sources and dealing with the kind of scumbags that you Chomskyites seem to believe is "beneath" us...

Would there EVEN BE A CIA in any administration headed by Chomskyites?

Remember.. this is the same CIA that you claim is responsible for the repression of so many people around the world...

Would you have the guts to deal with the Phillipine intelligence officials who provided that information to us??

And btw, would you support the Northern Alliance in overthrowing the Taleban?

Hawkmoon

Re: The CIA should take heat for not preparing the country for this attack. The modus operandi of this attack was laid out for the CIA by Phillippine intelligence 6 years ago.

SIX years ago?! The Philippines?? C'mon Thomas, read my (uncensored) posts: less than 6 months ago, a hijacking rehearsal was carried out on the Ankara-Moscow flight... As regards the CIA, I think the CIA-Mossad "special" relationship must be overhauled for that "special" thing led to the current mess you're in right now... Some CIA spooks were likely aware of what was going on with the Russians, the French and Masood. They didn't want to pull the plug on the whole plot because they didn't see beyond the "best-case" scenario, that is, a "regular" hijacking, on US soil, by "ugly Arabs" --and perhaps a few American "collateral damages" (among the aircrew). In their silly, petty, narrow-minded cast of mind, that was just that was needed to whip up American public opinion into an Arab-bashing spree --and bring the Bush administration back in Israel's war of attrition against the Palestinians.

Well, by now, we all know how these "intelligence geniuses" got it all wrong with Masood... The guy was no longer their docile hatchet man, he played his own wildcard and snafued the whole scheme...

Gus.
