Hi Horsegirl48: My coons are still coming each night. Unfortunately, I think something has happened to Momma. She has not been here for 6 weeks.

I am afraid we've lost several of the adults and 6 or 7 babies!

We lease part of our land to a guy that grows pears, among other things. He had a hound dog down by the pond one day hollaring up a storm. One of my sons went down there to check it out and the guy said he had "Wolf" chained to a tree to keep the coons from eating the pears.

Well, after a few days he took Wolf back home and we think he may have put out poison. He may have also put out traps but I never saw any. The neighbor next to me about 100 acres over use to put out traps to catch the coons for the pelts. He'd give them to this guy to sell.

Have not had a chance to ask the guy if he put out any poison or traps but I'm afraid something bad like that has happened to our coon family.

We still have about 10 adults and 6-8 babies. We were up to about 18-20 adults that I usually could tell apart and 14 babies, so we're down considerably.

I'm just sick about losing Momma and her four babies in particular because she was the one that came to the door each night to let me know she was ready for her cookies and peanut butter. I still go out every few days and call her in the night hoping she will come.

Still have Grandpa Possum, and "Scrannie" Possum that come by each night, too.

Hope you are well.

RR
