I bear no ill will to any person of a particular faith or nationality and know that those who follow Islam in democratic countries share the revulsion of all men of good will toward the acts of cowards who claim to act in the name of God but will not stand up and say yes I did this. But in countries were ignorance is the rule revulsion is not the rule.

All those who are allied with or assisted any who were involved should be punished.

registerguard.com is a site registered in Oregon. The essay you provided was well worth reading.

I wish I could read such insightful words of the Muslim faith from a website based in a Islamic country.

Thank you for posting that article. It gives me faith that the followers of Islam are good people. I never had any sort of religious training. We didn't go to church when I was growing up and my parents never talked about religion to me so I am at a huge disadvantage.

It seems to me that the Catholics, the Jews, the Protestants and the Buddhists know what their religion is, and that there are few if any disputes as to what each religious sect does and does not believe.

It also seems to me that there are obvious difference of opinion about what the Islamic faith is or what it means, between it's followers. It appears to me to be a very difficult religion to explain or understand and the last sentence of the article makes it more confusing. It appears to me that there is a schism of sorts going on within the Islam faith?

None the less, my question is this: What is Islam?

If anyone can help it would be appreciated.
