Yes, I find these boards, at least the way I use them, help keep me disciplined. I explain in detail why I am taking any action, and what my investing philosophy is, and I know others are going to jump all over any inconsistencies. This makes it harder for me to commit to a plan, and harder to stray from the plan once I've publicly committed to it. It reduces knee-jerk and emotional reactions. This method only works because I do it in realtime, and am very specific. It would be useless if I just said things like, "Oh, I bought that at much lower prices a long time ago." It also means I'm setting myself up for cringing and wincing when the stupid things I've said in the past get reposted. No shortage of people who love to do that.
