Dan, <P4 puts out too much heat to stuff a pair of them into a box at 2GHZ.>

On the contrary. If Intel is willing to put a couple of 100W Itaniums into a box, they're more than willing to put a couple of Xeons into a box no matter what their heat dissipation is. In the markets they're targeted for, the addition of extra case fans is trivial.

<By the time Prestonia is out, the hammers will be sampling, and may even be shipping.>

Where have you been? AMD has been shipping Hammers since December of last year! Of course, customers won't see it until December of next year, highlighting the need for AMD to switch couriers ...

EDIT: Prestonia and Hyperthreading aren't the only things AMD should be worried about. The Plumas server chipset will also be intro'd with Prestonia. Guess what it will (or won't) have?
