Well, I know Iraq exports about 2.5 million, Saudi Arabia around 12 million or so, so the Arab part of OPEC can't be much more than 20 million barrels per day. They don't get $27 per barrel. Their oil is heavy and I think they get around 4 dollars less. In any case, your numbers seem to be off by about a factor of one thousand. Should have been million instead of billion.

I think from your posts you seem to imply that the basic problem in the ME is economic. If money is found for economic development of the ME, everybody will be happy. I agree with that view, and I think the money will come from the West rather than OPEC. The West has now a huge incentive to solve to problem. It's much cheaper to throw a few billion $ development aid at the Palestinians than having one or more Western cities incinerated.
