I read your post, stood up and applauded...

Then you are not far from the truth..... and there is hope for you yet. <g>

So tell me - what is the WHOLE truth?

My above tongue-in-cheek remark notwithstanding, I can tell you with all sincerity that I have no clue what is the "whole truth." I "do" know that between 5000 and maybe up to 10,000 innocent civilians were just murdered, in cold blood, by terrorists. I really don't think that the sheer number of the murdered has sunk in or registered with the populace yet. Staggering, unthinkable.

If we want to be safe, we must treat ALL people in the same manner in which we want to be treated.

No argument there.

That means not sponsoring dictators who murder, rape and pillage people using American weapons, intelligence and training. We ARE guilty of that you know.

As I stated before, the U.S. has done some really stupid things, of this I have no doubt. And we as a people bear the blame for allowing it. As long as we're well-fed, fat-and-happy in our own little world, we could care less about matters around the block, much less around the world. Guilty as charged. But we digress............. or is that the intent?

Now you're right - some people really do hate us for our way of life, culture etc. That's one part of it but not all of it.

At "this moment in time", that IS all of it. They hate us, they're here, they have killed, and plan to kill again, innocent civilians. As far as I know, we have never targeted innocent civilians for wholesale death such as we have seen this past week. Let's keep the focus right here, shall we?

These people a far fewer than our good media is trying hard for us to believe. Come on - let's not be naive and believe EVERYTHING they say on TV :)

You're preaching to the choir on this one.

Now I'm not saying we should be pacifists in this but running off half-cocked killing them all just for the sake of revenge is meaningless.

Nowhere in my post was that even remotely suggested.

It will push some those people sitting on our side and many of those on the fence over the edge into just the type of hatred you explained to us.

I am all for the slow, methodical approach, looking at the big picture and acting on the best intelligence we can gather. But acting on it. Not sitting around wringing our hands, saying we will surely fail. That was the point of my original post. Seems most already know that we'll lose this fight, and a fight it is. A fight for our very way of life here in America. Imagine, people being afraid every time a plane flies overhead? No'sir, not acceptable.

I'll leave it to all the philosophers, world experts, politicians, etc, to figure out the solution to the world's problems at a later date. But as for "this moment in time", we have a grave situation that needs to be addressed, like NOW.

Now just as a point - we actively try to destroy their way of life too you know. Only thing is we do it with movies, tv, fast food and marketing.

Yes, we've done a lot of idiotic things. Maybe someone in a position greater than me will be able to do something about it. Or the collective voters as a whole. I don't know. That's for the above list to figure out later.

Thanks for reminding us to really look at the truth - I feel better already......

I'm glad. Myself, I don't feel very well at all. I guess what happened has just "slowly" crept up on me. Shock, awe and disbelief have given way to a strange emptiness, numbness or something. I can't really describe it.

But I do know that sitting here worrying won't accomplish anything. And all the "talk" in the world won't make these murderers decide to pack up and go home. We'll have to do that ourselves.

Let's get to it, shall we?
