There is nothing in what I said that implies that we should become a theocracy, unless it is sinful to be a liberal democracy, which is neither given nor implied. The decision to renounce sin is personal, even as we encourage it.

Well, obviously an expectation of being favored in this world is not a reason for being religious. I cannot fathom how that is suspiciously convenient, but I suppose you have your own logic.

It cannot be demonstrated that He doesn't care about evil, nor does the invocation of Latin American despotisms, however pious, resolve the issue. Since religious people assume that God will heed their prayer, it is worthwhile to notice that sincerity of prayer would go along with a serious intention to amend one's own life.

I did not say that God smote the good for doing no evil. Unfortunately, your reading skills appear to need remedial work. I did not even say that God smote anyone. I observed that God permits evil in the world. Perhaps a point to subtle for you, but there it is..........

By the way, since I am neither a Christian nor a member of any religious denomination, I am not sure how I would go about establishing a theocracy. I guess I could set myself up as Hierophant, but then, I doubt many people would accept my authority, and I am averse to secret police and all that. Hmmmm, quite a conundrum....
