The terrorist attacks have put the consumer in panic circle the wagons mode. Rather than just slowly grinding down I think consumer spending has just stopped dead. This has been a wake up call for free borrowing/spending types. The entertainment and travel industry as well as peripheral services like restaurants that rely on crowds at attractions are going to be devastated. Like Bruce Lee said "when you drop a stone into a pool you get ripples".
