Don't send an army of elephants to kill a cockroach
rediff.com

This was a very interesting article. Does anyone know the credentials of this site and the writer of the article?

I heard an military analyst who offered the following scenario. In stead of launching a full scale attack on Afghanistan, we will instead establish a small base for commando operations near Kabul. One reason for this area may be that it is near where Bin laden is thought to be hiding.

From this base, the commandos will stage hit and run attacks to try and find Ben laden, cause other disruption to the Taliban government, etc.

Also, interestingly I saw today Rumsfeld opening mentioning the Northern Alliance and their forces helping in fighting the Taliban and also the former King of Afghanistan is calling for the ouster of the Taliban and the establishment of a democratic government.

Afghani support and even sharing the battle could make it more difficult for the Taliban to make this a US vs. Afghanistan fight.
