Elmat, this has been designated a Cool Post. Congrats.

I think you've got the deployment schedule just about right, perhaps a bit optimistic on UMTS. I don't know how severe the fallout from consolidation and/or bankruptcies is going to be in 2002.

Where does EDGE fit in? LOL

A lot depends on the international situation which is developing. We might all be selling pencils and apples at the street corner in '02.

Have you taken a look at Global Crossing?

Nice post, but what about what I read in Red Herring last issue that says our government is unwilling to auction off the needed spectrum that allows 3G to happen?

From what I gathered from the article, Clinton admin. set the auction for July 8th. Obviously that had been stopped by Bush admin. after being elected because the defense department uses the spectrum for national security purposes.
This was a big battle in congress until last week(mainly from tech sector which had invested everything into this build-out based on the assumption this spectrum would be there), and I'll bet because of last week the discussion is on hold indefinitly.

It seems to me the timetable can't start until the spectrum issue is resolved. I would be interested in your perspective to this.

John

Looks like a good timeline to me. I think I agree with it.
