I understand your emotions completely.

But the "dead or alive" guy served this emotions and shot immediately. Now there are questions left to ask.
Texas style at its best.

Boris, I understand what you are saying. For me, war is the expression to use for a particular state of mind, and not for what it has traditionally looked like in the past. War can mean quick undercover forays into the enemy camp in order to assassinate a la mode de the Israelis. In spite of all the current rhetoric, it doesn't need to be the kind of fighting war exemplified by Desert Storm.

As for the ships moving to the Indian Ocean, I think that they are intended to reinforce the fear that the Afghans are feeling right now. Bush says over and over that we are at war but then goes on to imply that it will be different this time. To get his meaning, one, I think, must read between the lines.

As for my French commentary, it was said in jest. However, behind every joke is truth. And frankly, I think that the French are more concerned with saving their own skin, then upholding their end of an alliance....or to put it another way, they tend to exhibit mauvais charactère to the rest of the world from time to time but I accept that because they sure know how to cook and to grow du vin. <g>
