Hi Art; <OT>re>> So in the end, the real issue is the one that Senator McCain has been plugging all
along: Get rid of soft money and put limits on overall contributions.
<<

Lobby shenanigans and campaign money is always going to have a lot of corruption in it,
also I don't see how McCain will get his ideas to go any further than mine ever will.

Even if we could improve the up front situation there is already a network that pays
graft after the fact in a way it can never be "proven" . Some of the biggest pay offs
go to "retired" officials who played ball , and the reason so many of them wind up as
Lobbyist is to demonstrate to the newbies in congress just how nice taht network is
latter to those who played ball. :-)
The Graft system is like a religion in Washington and if you don't go to their church
you become a token of freedom but never get anything passed. :-)
( sort of like Ron Paul of Texas he is just a token and no real threat to what the power
brokers want done )

If the power brokers find someone a threat and can't stop them, then the problem gets
turned over to the AeraCura ( Roman) or Yama ( Verdic ) networks, the web of
invisible power woven into our system is so extensive taht the main string
pullers are hidden behind buffers on top of buffers and they stay so far out of sight
that not even 1% of the people on their payroll know who they are.
Try to unravel the connections and they see you long before you see them
if you get pass a certain point your a dead man. I have already see the futility
of trying to get to the center of the web.
Mafia type gangs are choir boys compared to these guys, not only choir boys
but they are the choir boys who are often used to do the dirty work.
If you want to be a Mafia type king pin be sure
you stay on the right side of the CIA. :-)

Back to ( soft money ) or any other type political contributions..
TAX the hell of it. If at least half of what got passed went into
the national treasury it would at least mitigate some of this "selling of
justice to the highest bidder"
Jim
PS don't get me wrong,
This "justice for sale to the highest bidder" is not an exclusive
to America, in my travels I've found it's a common political
thread in every country I managed to visit.
