I make (almost) no excuses for hatred; I described where it often comes from: ignorance. IMO, there is no valid excuse for hatred beyond intense personal losses (not financial; people).

I don't think SirRealist was making excuses for hatred.

The human mind finds it very easy to categorize, to rationalize (like those who shorted the market this week--hey, they said, patriotism is different than "investing"--and so they help and assist in triggering a global recession so they can make $ at every chance--and yet they will probably wept and cried over Sept 11). I agree w/ him some will eventually open up and look at things and come to their senses. The others will wear Nikes & eat Big Macs and spout what their peers spout. It isn't hatred that's at work here, it's something deeper and more disturbing in the human psyche.
