Whatever next - I see from Bloomberg that Goldman Sachs has today issued a "Market Outperform" rating on NEM. Perhaps this says more about the market than the company but GS - who I thought were arch conspirators in suppressing the gold price - have come a long way from their announcement in November 2000 that "the Gold stock rally was unsustainable". NEM was then in the $13-$15 range.

Could it be that they are no longer interested in keeping the price of gold down or do they want to give another set of would be gold investors a bloody nose ?
