Many of those forms cover up their real intended purpose by calling what they want as just being PC.>>> Freedom of speech is our birthright. We have it in writing. It is in our laws. That is much of what makes us what we are (IMO very good). Even the British do not have it in writing. Freedom of speech can exist best in very advanced and enlightened civilizations where citizens have some sense of responsibility and behave with a degree of civility. For example, we can't shout "fire" into a crowded room when there is no fire. But, there are sometimes kids who don't know any better or there are those "jail house lawyers/or dupes" who try to test our tolerance and see if they can get away with some clearly bad behavior by testing the limits of Freedom of Speech. Worse, there are clearly evil people that would use the principles of "Freedom of Speech" to cloak their true intent. And, I can also agree to some extent that there are people that can be duped into "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions". But, I also have some degree of faith in that most people are WYSIWYG. There is more good in people than bad. In some sense, I think we have to make that assumption. Otherwise, we would be living in one of those science fiction societies (a parallel universe) where everyone is evil, everyone lives in fear, neighbors are pitted against each other, and there is constant suspicion and paranoia. In fact, I suspect that living in some third world countries is like living in some parallel evil universe. Fortunately, we live in a society that is far different. However, I don't think that we are that far removed from those societies. That we can't regress to some extent and fall into some evil abyss (a matter degree). We don't want to become like them. We have to be able to see what they are doing that makes them the way they are and not do the same things ourselves. Being kind, being generous, being magnanimous are not qualities that those societies have an abundance of and for us to try to acquire those qualities is not a bad thing. It's not anything that is easy to achieve, but it is definitely not a bad thing to do. Jail house lawyers can always tie us up with definitions of what is good and what is bad, but I have real faith that most of us , the great majority of us, know on some intuitive level what is good or what is bad. To make the point further, it is very difficult to define what is beautiful and what is ugly. Everybody has a definition. But if I said that I thought if we took a poll on this thread as to who is more beautiful - Pamela Anderson or Roseanne - I think I know what the results will be. But, I wouldn't be surprised if Roseanne gets a few votes. This is, however, supposed to be a humerous example to illustrate that most normal people are in agreement on intrinsic concepts and know on some intuitive level qualities that are difficult to define. But, getting back to my point, I don't believe that most of the people that support PC are evil or are against "our way of life". To the contrary, I believe they are mostly good folks by definition. And, by definition, the evil doers are "acting, hiding behind, and subverting" PC. Mary
