But then I suppose Buchanan doesn't care about humanity.

Indeed he doesn't. He said in CNN a few years back that 50 humans are not worth one American in harms way.

Actually, Germany and Italy declared war on us on December 9, 1941, after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. We likely would have gotten into the European war anyway, but they saved us the trouble of declaring war on them.

>> Craig, I can't believe you would defend Pat Buchanan and isolationism <<

i agree with buchanan on a lot of issues. i'm not interested in rehashing every single military conflict in history and being pat buchanan's defender. but i do agree with some basic points that he makes.

i believe we should only involve ourselves in conflicts or disputes that involve a direct threat to americans.

we do not belong in the middle east. it's not our fight. it's not our homeland, and it's not even our region of the world. we have no vital interest in sending american troops to places like the balkans where we slaughtered a couple thousand innocent civilians. nothing was accomplished except state-sponsored terrorism inflicted on innocent men, women, and children by NATO. it's ok for the U.S. and NATO to terrorize the world to achieve their imperialism, but it's not ok for terrorists from the middle east to terrorize americans to achieve their goals?

trying to challenge china's sovereignty by aiding in the defense of taiwan is like britain sending troops to help the south secede during our civil war. the civil war was our business, not the business of the rest of the world. the civil dispute between PRC and taiwan is between them and is none of our business.

perhaps if we didn't have our military stretched out across the globe in places like the middle east and the balkans, we could have focused on defending our own borders against infiltration by the terrorists. perhaps if we would mind our own business and focus on our own republic instead of playing policeman to the world, terrorists would have no reason to attack us in the first place!

>> Had we entered the war earlier, millions of lives would likely have been saved <<

that's all fine and good. if you think we have the right and the obligation to take sides in every dispute and impose our morality and will on the entire world, let's just say so and quit pussyfooting around. let the u.s. government quit lying to it's citizens and the rest of the world and let's get WWIII started. if we want to sacrifice enough american lives i'm sure we can eradicate some evil in the world.

we should STOP trying to brainwash our citizens by saying things like we were just minding our own business and we did nothing to provoke an attack on our people. we should stop snowing americans into believing that people want to live amongst a society they despise and fly a plane fully loaded with fuel into a building at 350 mph all because they are jealous of our success. what a load of crap. that is total HOGWASH. stupid conservative talk-show host war mongers and all the pundits and politicians are saying this act of terrorism occurred only because radical fundamentalists are jealous of our freedom and our way of life. no, they want us to get the hell out of their homeland. they want us to mind our own business and stop terrorizing the rest of the world and then acting like we are the only victims of terrorism.
