Fin, thanks for your extensive post. I too was doubting the 100% Darwinian approach that GV and Tim were talking about. I figure that in extraordinary times like these, government intervention might be preferable to a shakeout which could probably hurt more than help, even in the long run. There was an interesting interview with Don Luskin on Yahoo earlier. I don't know how good your lines are, but I watched it during lunch on the T1 line. He also raised the point that heavy government regulation of the airline industry has kept them at subsistence and it's therefore the government's job to keep them solvent. He also had a few other pointed comments about Greenspan and Capital Gains taxes... it's an interesting interview...
