To: Oeconomicus who wrote (131648 ) 9/20/2001 6:49:47 PM From: craig crawford Respond to of 164684 >> difference of perspective, encouraged by their government << oh really! perhaps americans would view the spy plane incident a little differently if they were aware of the outrage felt by the chinese people and govt in the wake of the deliberate bombing of their embassy and slaughter of their citizens. >> is why many Chinese (the internet connected ones) are so critical of the US << hmm...perhaps the negative views americans have of china are encouraged by our government. ya think? nahh...our govt is all that is good and pure and it's only other world govts that are corrupt and morally bankrupt. yeah, that's it. it's especially ridiculous to hear this from conservative talk show hosts. people like rush limbaugh are fond of criticizing the oppressive nature and propaganda spewed by our govt when it relates to it's own citizens. you know, the govt is inept, impotent, inefficient, intrusive, and oppressive toward it's own citizens. carried out mainly via confiscatory taxation. yet when it comes to the events of a week ago, they all jump on the bandwagon that america represents freedom, democracy, righteousness, etc. america is all that is good and we need to make this a war of good vs evil. according to them these attacks were entirely unprovoked, they were barbaric, and cowardly. yet our govt commits acts of terror and cowardice all the time. i find it troubling that conservative talk show hosts can have nothing nice to say about the federal govt in one breath, but when it comes to our foreign policy our govt is so pure. you won't hear a word from them about how we might provoke these sorts of incidents. how naive or intellectually dishonest they are.
