John, I agree, GWB gave a flawless speech, brilliantly written for him to give and he gave it with sincerity and a certain homespun style which suited him. Hugh Sidey is talking about how tough he thinks GWB is (very); and how he will rise to this crisis. But something else I noticed, Daschle and Schumer also spoke well. I think the unity is real. The other thing I felt; after watching the Discovery/BBC's special on terrorism last evening I felt a wave of hopelessness. After the speech tonight I felt a great sense of confidence that not only the U.S. but the world would rise to the task. The stakes are that high. Regards, Kb
