Kash, are you still short?

Just checked all the Asian markets...everyone is down. At one point the Nikkei was at its lowest level in 17 years.

I think the only thing that will calm these markets is trading under the current conditions over time until people find a degree of comfort. I don't see any other way to make the situation more palatable. With Desert Storm, the military could project victory at some point in the future. This time its a very different war and a reasonable projection can not be made. I don't even think shorting stocks is an alternative except on a very short term basis. These sharp oversold bounces are killer to shorts.

In some ways, its not surprising that one of the best markets in history is followed by a very bad one.

EDIT. Actually, its the Naz stocks where I think shorting is pretty much done. With the NYSE stocks, I think there are a few stocks that are still shortable.
