Another example of CPQ being way behind the curve in their partnering strategy IMO. Akamai had an interesting idea in the go-go internet market but completely missed the current transition to dynamic personalized content and is now scrambling to figure out how to transform their architecture. It's amazing that a company could go from leading edge to behind the curve in only a few years, but that's what Akamai has done.

But who knows, maybe there are technology buyers out there who just don't know, or maybe Akamai did such an attractive deal that it's still good business for CPQ. My opinion, however, is that CPQ does not have the quality management in place to make calls like this any more... and just got pulled in by the name.
